  • Authorized property valuer AKA (agriculture and forestry) since 1996

During my career, I have worked for the National Land Survey of Finland and in the Land Court. In the National Land Survey of Finland, I performed different kinds of real estate procedures as a land surveyor for approximately 20 years in northern and eastern Finland. The procedures varied from small standard procedures to the mining concession procedure of the Talvivaara mine. I specialise in claim, land consolidation and real estate formation duties related to nature protection.

While working as a land surveyor, I took the property valuation authorization test in 1995, and at the beginning of 1996, I was accepted as an authorized property valuer (AKA) for agricultural and forestry properties. An authorized property valuer (AKA) is a specialist accepted by the Property Valuation Board of Finland Chamber of Commerce whose task is to estimate the value of a property impartially, independently and autonomously. An AKA valuer authorization is a guarantee of the valuer’s competence and that the valuation is performed according to a specific framework. (Further information: Property Valuation, Finland Chamber of Commerce.)

I completed scientific further studies at the beginning of the 2000s at Helsinki University of Technology (currently Aalto University) in Espoo, familiarising myself extensively with the Finnish real estate system and its history. I received my Licentiate in Technology in 2006.

For the past 16 years, I worked as a land court engineer at the North Savo Land Court, retiring from this position in 2023. In the Land Court, my duties included preparing and discussing various kinds of disputes related to real estate procedures as a member of the formation of the court. The disputes were typically related to road, border, division and claim procedures. Every now and then, the Land Court also settled matters based on negotiations.

Since I retired from my permanent position, I have been spending my time going to my cabin and hiking, amongst other things. I also offer my expertise in real estate law to the clients of Asianajotoimisto Sillanpää.
